DE BOER CONFIDENT

Dutch star Ronald de Boer says that he is confident that Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal will be a huge success at Tottenham. The former Bayern Munich manager is currently in charge of the Netherlands national team, but he is widely expected to step down from his post after the end of the World Cup 2014. Netherlands have been given a tough group at this tournament, as they will be facing the likes of Spain and Chile. After having not done well in recent major tournaments, much is expected of Netherlands in Brazil.

Louis van Gaal recently revealed that Tottenham approached him to take over at the club a few months ago after they had just sacked Andre Villas-Boas. However, he decided to stay with Netherlands at least until the World Cup. Now, he appears to have made up his mind if Tottenham come for him again. The possibilities may have reduced after the permanent appointment of Tim Sherwood on an 18 month contract, but the recent performances of the club may force them to rethink and bring in the former Bayern Munich manager instead.

Van Gaal has achieved success wherever he has been at and de Boer reckons that the English media will love the Dutchman just as they do the Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho.

“It’s possible. If I were the boss of Manchester United or Tottenham, I would definitely take him. I think he is one of the best coaches in the world. Everywhere he goes he has success. And also, for the future of the club, he is also influential because he puts in a structure and great foundation for the coming years. He will be a great coach. He is also a sort of Mourinho – there is always something going on,” said the Dutch legend about the future of Van Gaal.
